Successful Trade Show Booths: Part 3 The Sales Material by Valerie Harmon

You’ve prepared your trade show booth to be eye-catching and inviting, and you’ve chosen a visible candy container and contents, now it’s time to talk about the sales material you hand out.

 

You’ve spent money to prepare your booth so you can connect to the potential buyers at a trade show, you want to make sure the material they take home reflects well and memorably on your company. If you hand out sales material only made out of paper (brochures or fliers), you risk people throwing it away or ignoring you as you try to hand it to them. It is important to attach some thing to your sales material to increase it’s visible value.

 

Candy is a great thing to attach to the sales material. Everyone likes it, there’s lots of custom imprinting options, and it’s inexpensive (which is key to any giveaway). If there’s candy attached to your sales material, people are more likely to take it from your hand. Candy also helps your sales material stand out from the rest. And sweetness forms a great association with your business name and the potential buyer.

 

Another way to increase your company’s visibility is attaching a promotional product attached to the sales material. Promotions like a magnetic business card, a magnetic photo frame or a magnetic clip, are small and often go straight to the front of a potential buyer’s refrigerator (a location with great logo visibility).

 

If you have a bit more budget, then the best trade show promotion is an imprinted bag. Whether they are cloth bags, bags of polypropylene, or paper shoppers bags, bags are the perfect trade show giveaway. They are useful (everyone gathers sales material at trade shows and wants a place to put it), they are walking billboards (a bag has excellent logo visibility), and, depending on the type of bag, they can continue showing off your logo long after the trade show it over.

 

If you chose to pre-fill your promotional bags with the sales material, as you hand the bags out, that you mention the candy or promotional item that are included. This helps your potential buyer get curious, enjoy the candy/promotional item, and look at your material. It sets your company apart.

 

On all your sales material and promotional items, remember to always include your phone number and email address—so when it’s time to buy, people can find your information easily.
